Team Q&A: Jonathan Goodrum – Business Development Representative
Jonathan Goodrum wants to leave the world a little better than he found it. As our Business Development Representative, Goodrum puts that to work by helping utilities find opportunities to improve their demand flexibility programs like demand response, EV managed charging, or virtual power plants, helping them save money, enhance grid resiliency, and more. Join us in welcoming Jonathan to the Virtual Peaker team!
How did your previous life prepare you for Virtual Peaker?
One way my previous life helped prepare me for Virtual Peaker is that since I was young, I have always been taught to leave things better than I found them. Virtual Peaker’s mission allows me to do that every day on an even larger scale than just my contributions. With my previous professional roles being customer-centric, it made for a smooth transition to become a member of the organization because not only am I still focused on the customer experience but we’re also helping them to leave the world better than they found it.
Tell us about your role at Virtual Peaker.
As a Business Development Representative, I’m responsible for identifying and qualifying new business opportunities for the team to pursue. Working cross-functionally with the sales, marketing, and product team
s to ensure Virtual Peaker is aligning with customers’ needs as they themselves look to participate in the effort of making the world a more sustainable place.
How do you personally engage in sustainability efforts?
I engage in sustainability efforts through everyday recycling, regularly participating in local beach cleanups, and walking or biking whenever possible. I make a conscious effort to limit the usage of utilities in the house by waiting until potential combustion before turning the AC on in the summer and sporting the Michelin Man look in the winter before adjusting the heat. I believe good habits start within the home, and maintaining a clean space is one of the habits that I have, so it makes me more aware of opportunities to help clean up the surrounding areas outside of the house and within the community.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I’m a pretty simple person when it comes down to it. I love to be around my family and friends, and it’s always a bonus when that can be done outside; whether at the beach or on a golf course. My wife and I enjoy hiking, trying new restaurants in the area, and attending concerts or listening to live music whenever we get the chance. When able, we typically have our miniature dachshund, Winnie, in tow; Although she is usually making a grand entrance while towing one of us behind her.
