Human Resources Consultant

Virtual Peaker is looking for a part-time Human Resources Consultant that can support a rapidly growing team on a contract basis. The intermittent nature of wind and solar energy makes it much harder for electric utilities to keep the grid in balance. Renewable energy is going to save humanity, and Virtual Peaker is part of the solution. The HR Consultant will be responsible for performing advanced, specialized, and administrative duties in employee recruitment, benefits administration, and other critical areas to support growth.


  • Manage the recruitment and hiring of new employees utilizing contemporary technologies and external recruiters.

  • Advises management on the formulation and administration of plans and policies for human resource activities, including review of current benefits plans.

  • Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues relating to the assigned program or section area, including recommending salary and benefits packages that are competitive in the market.

  • Develops, revises, and implements HR policies and procedures.

  • Answers non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation.

  • Conducts periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.

  • Participates in professional development sessions or seminars.

  • Works on special projects.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

  • Three years of professional-level experience in human resources.

  • Must maintain a current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
