What’s Cookin’ in our Kitchens this Thanksgiving (Spoiler: Turkey)?

Turkey

The Virtual Peaker team plans to take some well-deserved time off to celebrate all things Thanksgiving, from turkey to stuffing. We’ll close our laptops and open our ovens to savor the tastes of the season and spend time with loved ones.

VP ThanksgivingAt Virtual Peaker, we like numbers, so we decided to survey our staff about their favorite Thanksgiving main dishes, side dishes, desserts, and how they handle the all-important leftover question. Almost everyone responded, which we take as solid proof that our team is hungry and growing!

Screen Shot 2020-11-20 at 11.47.14 AMHands down, turkey is our favorite main dish. Yet, there are more varieties than you might think: 38.5% like it roasted, 30.8% fry it up, and our more adventurous colleagues (7.7%) drive to Old Hickory Bar-B-Que in Owensboro for their famous smoked turkey.

More than half (53.8%) line up for the pecan nut, eggs, butter, and sugar concoction. We are based in Louisville, home to Churchill Downs, so we also got a few votes for Derby Pie—chocolate, walnuts, and lots of sweetness—which is best enjoyed after belting out “My Old Kentucky Home.”

Now, the biggest question of the day: “What’s the move with leftovers?” Slightly more than half (53.8%) enjoy doing a re-run of the previous day (without all the preparation), and just under half (46.2%) like to stuff whatever is left in the fridge into sandwiches. Absolutely no one at Virtual Peaker selected the last survey option, “I don’t do leftovers, even though I know it is truly the best part.”

What are you serving this Thanksgiving? We’d love to hear from you. In the meantime, from all of us at Virtual Peaker, we hope you have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.
