Growing up in Louisiana, our new Proposal Manager Nick Lemoine developed a healthy passion for mitigating climate change. He has turned that passion into helping connect utilities with the demand flexibility solutions they need to enhance grid resiliency, defray the high costs associated with peak energy consumption, and, of course, fight climate change. Join us in welcoming Nick to the Virtual Peaker team!

How did your previous life prepare you for Virtual Peaker?

Professionally, my previous experience at E Source included managing proposals for utility clients, which prepared me well for my role at Virtual Peaker. I provided and managed sales support functions, increasing value, enhancing efficiency, and improving win rates with utilities throughout North America. During this time, I developed a deep understanding of the energy sector’s unique challenges and opportunities, particularly in advancing sustainability initiatives. I also led a team through a period of rapid growth, honing my ability to manage complex projects, develop and refine processes, and collaborate effectively across departments.

I was born and raised in Louisiana, where my family has lived for generations. In many ways, I’ve lived on the front lines of climate change, witnessing firsthand the effects of sea level rise, saltwater intrusion, deforestation, and the increased frequency and intensity of severe weather events. Watching the paradise my family has enjoyed for generations wash away, and understanding that this is a precursor to a global existential crisis, ignited my passion to do what I can to help protect the planet for future generations.

Tell us about your role at Virtual Peaker.

As a Proposal Manager at Virtual Peaker, I oversee developing and submitting proposals that advance our mission to help utilities decentralize, digitize, and decarbonize using IoT and smart home technology. I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our proposals are clear, compelling, and tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. My goal is to expand our impact by creating winning proposals that benefit Virtual Peaker, our clients, and the planet as a whole.

How do you personally engage in sustainability efforts?

I engage in sustainability efforts by being intentional about what I buy and do, always considering my environmental footprint. My morning coffee is brewed with a stainless, paper-free filter, and my water bottle began its life as a kombucha bottle. I upcycle, recycle, andavoid unnecessary driving by living in a walkable area. However, my most effective efforts are in actively advocating for sustainability and electrification within my community. I share information and counterpoints with friends and peers to inspire change, helping to bridge the knowledge gap in areas where misinformation about climate change and sustainability is all too common.

What can you tell us about yourself?

Nick Lemoine 3 climate change

I’m a Louisiana native who loves cooking, competitive BBQing, and sharing great meals with friends and family. I genuinely care about people, want the best for them, and enjoy doing what I can to help others. When I’m not exploring new recipes or manning the grill, I enjoy weightlifting, traveling to new destinations, and attending live music and sporting events. I’m also active in my local Veteran community and volunteer with nonprofit organizations that support Veterans. I’m an anim

al lover, with a special fondness for my golden retriever, Tate, the best boy ever, and my mini Bernedoodle, Tucker, a true menace.
