Team Q&A: Aaron Allehoff – Junior Software Developer

Graduating from an internship with Virtual Peaker to his current role as Junior Software Developer, please join me in welcoming our newest teammate, Aaron Allehoff!

What did you do before joining Virtual Peaker?

I studied applied linguistics in college, and languages have always fascinated me. Given the relationship between computer programming and human language, a couple of years ago when I was thinking about making a career change my primary goal was to learn how to code. After taking Code Louisville courses at Bellarmine University, I did some freelance coding work and then started my software development internship at Virtual Peaker.

What’s your role at Virtual Peaker?

I’m a junior software developer, working on front-and-back-end API design and development. The development team at Virtual Peaker is very supportive and fun to work with, and it’s easy to get my questions answered. As a former intern, I’ve already touched every part of the solution, which makes things easier.

Working here has really spurred me to think a lot about climate change and to view it from a different perspective. As a developer, it’s great to always be able to keep the big picture—Virtual Peaker’s mission—in mind as we make implementation decisions that have a positive impact on the planet.

What else can you share?

In addition to my interest in human language and how it intersects with modern technology, I also enjoy hiking, playing strategy games, and learning new things in general.
