From intern to full-time employee, we’re excited to grow our team. Please join me in welcoming our Junior Software Developer, Jestin Mounts!
What did you do before joining Virtual Peaker?
I’ve always been interested in technology, going back to my time building websites in middle school. During the pandemic, while working full-time, I learned how to program through a combination of self-study and Code Louisville classes. When I heard about the opportunity to intern with Virtual Peaker, I jumped at the chance.
For the past eight years, I was the general manager at a car wash. While I’m thrilled to now build my career as a software developer, managing a car wash taught me the value of customer service skills and the art of listening—to customers and co-workers—and delivering on expectations.
What’s your role at Virtual Peaker?
As a junior software developer, I do a little bit of everything. I work in a variety of apps, implementing new programs and features, and if needed hop in to fix bugs. Ever since I started my internship, it’s been great to work for a company with such an important mission. I enjoy using my skills to be a part of the transition to renewable energy, and to demonstrate how technology can make a difference.
What else can you share?
When I was a kid, I played soccer until my knees gave out. Now, I’m a huge fan of Louisville City Football Club. We have season tickets and enjoy tailgating before games at the Lynn Family Stadium. I recently got married, and my wife Emily and I also love to watch Netflix and hang out with our friends.
