What did you do before joining Virtual Peaker?

I’ve always been interested in technology, going back to my time building websites in middle school. During the pandemic, while working full-time, I learned how to program through a combination of self-study and Code Louisville classes. When I heard about the opportunity to intern with Virtual Peaker, I jumped at the chance.

For the past eight years, I was the general manager at a car wash. While I’m thrilled to now build my career as a software developer, managing a car wash taught me the value of customer service skills and the art of listening—to customers and co-workers—and delivering on expectations.Jestin Mounts 2

What’s your role at Virtual Peaker?

As a junior software developer, I do a little bit of everything. I work in a variety of apps, implementing new programs and features, and if needed hop in to fix bugs. Ever since I started my internship, it’s been great to work for a company with such an important mission. I enjoy using my skills to be a part of the transition to renewable energy, and to demonstrate how technology can make a difference.

What else can you share?

Jestin Mounts 3When I was a kid, I played soccer until my knees gave out. Now, I’m a huge fan of Louisville City Football Club. We have season tickets and enjoy tailgating before games at the Lynn Family Stadium. I recently got married, and my wife Emily and I also love to watch Netflix and hang out with our friends.
