Thank You to Our Utility Partners

When we read about some of the challenges facing utilities, it helps us remember—and celebrate–just how fortunate we are at Virtual Peaker. We have partners who not only understand the importance of the customer experience but have found ways to break through the old paradigms of doing business within the utility space.

Powering Up the Customer Experience in Utilities,” from consulting firm Bain & Company, is focused on how utility executives can improve customer experience and loyalty in a world where those same customers now have lots of options for buying, managing, and storing electricity. While the consultant’s recommendations are sound, we know how challenging it is to connect strategy to execution. Here are a few utilities that have made the leap:

  • Austin Energy’s PowerPartner Thermostat program incentivizes customers to use Wi-Fi-connected devices to reduce overall costs and energy use
  • Project PowerShift, a partnership between Washington Electric Co-op and Efficiency Vermont, reduces member and utility costs by shifting energy stored in smart residential water heaters to get the most benefits out of renewable energy
  • EnergyUnited provides and sells equipment—including generators—at a subsidized rate to ensure safe, reliable service without interruption

Virtual Peaker already works with some of the most innovative utilities and energy companies in the country, and our advanced distributed energy resource management platform solves many of the challenges other electric utilities are still trying to figure out.

Together, we’re generating sustainable growth in a distributed world, enhancing customer satisfaction seamlessly, and moving towards the renewable energy world of the future.

We can’t say it often enough: Thank you to all our utility partners for helping us build such an exciting future!

And to all those who aren’t partners yet – Let’s talk!

Virtual Peaker is a cloud-based Distributed Energy Management System (DERMS) that connects to in-home smart devices such as water heaters, EV chargers, and thermostats to allow utilities to run residential demand response programs, develop new revenue streams, and exceed their customer engagement goals. By being able to integrate new devices in weeks instead of months, Virtual Peaker can integrate new devices in weeks instead of months using their API and other open standards without the installation of any additional hardware in the home. Virtual Peaker hopes to help innovative utilities maximize operational efficiency and usher in the age of renewable energy.
